You would be hard-pressed to find a more thrilling way to start an episode than with a body and this one is Lydia’s on top of a taxi but the question is who is responsible? Well if we’re looking for motive, Frank starts off the episode by revealing to Victoria the $10 million transfer Conrad made to Lydia and we get the standard pursed lips that mean Victoria is out for blood. When Conrad returns home he’s more concerned with Daniel’s drinking than his wife’s displeasure. Tyler smarms his way into an internship at Grayson Global and Conrad orders Daniel to join him to try to bring structure to his holidays. Tyler lets slip about Conrad’s affair and Daniel refuses to start the internship which ends with his father freezing his trust fund.

Emily has a lot of guests through her house this episode, Ashley turns up for advice. Then Nolan turns up and plants a camera in a whale called Shamu, begging her again to let him join the game. And Lydia also pays her a visit, telling Emily she wants her house back and will find her South Fork Inn – don’t you know Emily is not one to pit yourself against? To appease Lydia, Emily boxes up some of her belongings that are still in the house along with some damning files, and not recognising Shamu, Nolan’s camera gets packed up with it.

Victoria attempts to make up with Charlotte but Charlotte isn’t buying it. She does however accept Conrad’s gift to Victoria, a convertible, which Victoria lets her have on the provision that they stop fighting. As per Emily’s suggestion, Ashley announces at the lady’s luncheon that she has arranged that at the Open Arms Benefit, the Graysons will be honoured for their charity Victims United Outreach. Victims United Outreach being the charity Victoria started to ease her guilt over laundering money for terrorists. Lydia interrupts the luncheon causing further awkwardness and, pulling Victoria aside, she begs her forgiveness. Seeing the two of them together, Emily plants the idea that Lydia may have been responsible for the Dr. Banks fiasco in Victoria’s mind.

Daniel finally talks to Emily about the dinner and realises Tyler is to blame for the whole thing. When he confronts Tyler, Tyler tells him Emily isn’t good for him and he was doing it for Daniel’s own good. Meanwhile Nolan goes to check on his spy cam and find Lydia on the other end. At which point Conrad turns up and tells Lydia she should stay away from Victoria, but Lydia is convinced they can be friends again. While looking at a photo of Victoria and her at a New Years Eve party she notices Emily waitressing in the background – Busted! And to make matters worse when Emily asks Nolan to hack the catering company’s website and change the name on the employee list for the night, she reveals it’s her real name on the list not Emily’s. Nolan finds out there is only a hard copy and they are faxing it to Lydia’s so Emily gives him permission to go over there to switch the copies.

Frank is already there, finding the folder Emily planted with the evidence to damn Lydia for everything that has gone wrong in the Hamptons and her actual speech for the benefit where she is going to reveal the truth about Victoria and Conrad. Finding no other option, Victoria tells Lydia she forgives her in order to stop her exposing them but once Lydia has given her speech (with no mention of their big secret) Victoria reveals to Lydia that she will always despise her. Lydia returns home to find Frank in her house and they fight through the house until they reach the roof where she loses her balance and topples down onto the taxi below. Unaware he is entering a crime scene, Nolan replaces the file in Lydia’s apartment and switches the photo with Emily in the background. He is retrieving Shamu when he hears sirens and runs to the roof to see Lydia’s body below.

Meanwhile Declan and Charlotte go for a ride in the new car and, speeding, they get pulled over by the cops. Emily and Daniel leave the party to go pick up Charlotte from the police station, where they meet Jack who has come to pick up Declan, neither are being charged as Daniel tells the police they are both family. Daniel asks if he could have the bar tending job as thanks from Jack. As Victoria receives a call from Frank saying Lydia jumped from her balcony, Emily and Daniel get intimate and Nolan watches in horror at the struggle between Frank and Lydia on the Shamu-cam.

Thoughts on the Episode

Every episode I like Nolan more and more, with his desperation to be part of Emily’s plan this week leading him to bug her apartment, it’s hard not to love him. Emily finally let him be involved in cleaning up her mess so hopefully this will lead to many more joint ventures. I’m glad we saw he has evidence that Frank was the cause of Lydia’s ‘accident’ because, considering the fingerprints he left all over her apartment, his innocence might be called into question.

I don’t believe Daniel wouldn’t have thrown Tyler out after all the troubles he’s been causing but apparently he’s the only forgiving Grayson. Although we didn’t see a lot of Tyler this week as he wormed his way into a job with Conrad that’s sure to lead to trouble.

For an episode that was all about guilt it will be interesting to see Emily’s reaction when she finds out that the suspicions she planted in her enemy’s minds led to unforeseen consequences. It wasn’t part of her plan but will she still feel responsible?

I also enjoyed the brief look at Victoria in a vulnerable light, the suggestion that maybe she’s not as evil as Conrad before showing her claws again. I don’t think this will impede Emily’s search for justice or stop us wanting Emily to bring her down but villains are always stronger when you understand their motive.

What Did We Find Out?

A few things I noted that may be important late:

  • I noted last week that Frank was a character to be watched, but this episode made it clear he’s even more dangerous than we thought. Emily will definitely have to deal with him in some way next episode and I’m sure Nolan’s video will come in handy. I just hope they can deal with him before it’s too late.
  • Tyler was the other person I noted last week as one to watch and this week I got the same feeling. Was it just me or did it seem a little too convenient that Tyler’s internship just happened to fall through while he’s staying with the Graysons and can just hit Conrad up for a job? Is there more to this or was it just lucky coincidence?

If you picked up anything else in the episode to hint at what’s to come, let us know below (but for those ahead overseas, please no spoilers).
